How to publish creatively: inside Bloomsbury Publishing
**EVENT SOLD OUT, PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN CASE ANY MORE TICKETS BECOME AVAILABLE**
In partnership with the Bloomsbury Institute
When the latest thriller is inevitably likened to 'Gone Girl' or 'Girl On A Train', or when a debut by a female author is named as the next 'The Handmaid's Tale', how can publishers push the boundaries and use their creativity to stand out from the rest?
SYP London are delighted to announce that for the first time ever we will be co-hosting an event with the Bloomsbury Institute discussing just that: how independent publisher Bloomsbury stays ahead of the game and with an ear to the ground.
Following our sold-out Careers Speed Dating event, this panel discussion will look at all areas of the publishing house.
We'll be hearing from:
- Alison Hennessey of Raven Books , on her creative publishing strategy for this brand new imprint;
- Jacqueline Sells, Head of International Sales, on creative strategy to selling titles internationally;
- Greg Heinimann, Assistant Art Director, on creating stand-out cover designs and being shortlisted for his cover design of Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race.
This event will be chaired by Petra Green, Marketing Director – Data, Digital & Systems, who will share her own thoughts on the innovative approach Bloomsbury has online.
As a publisher of works of excellence and originality – and beyond their success with the Harry Potter series – how does Bloomsbury continue to creatively publish? What makes Bloomsbury an exciting publisher to work for? We aim to find out.
This panel discussion will take place inside Bloomsbury Publishing on Thursday 9th November. Doors open at 6pm for a drinks reception, with the talk beginning at 6:45pm, and there will be a Q&A at the end of the panel discussion. At around 8pm we'll be heading to the College Arms for some drink and chatter.
We expect this magical event (pun intended) to sell out, so to avoid disappointment we do advise that you book tickets at your earliest convenience.
Venue: The Bloomsbury Institute, Bloomsbury Publishing, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP
