If you had £500K* to change the face of publishing, what would you do with it?
Posted on September 6, 2017 in News & Reviews, Oxford
A simple question with a myriad of answers. We want to hear yours! At this year’s SYP conference, we’re exploring how the industry deals with issues around ethics, sustainability, and inclusivity. The challenges faced within these areas have been at the forefront of debate in 2017, so we’re asking you to come up with exciting and innovative products, initiatives, movements, or programmes that could improve the state of publishing today and tomorrow.
Feeling inspired? Send us your project pitch by 06 October [details below]. SYP Oxford committee will shortlist three candidates by 13 October and invite them to present their projects at the conference to a distinguished panel of industry professionals.
What will you get out of it? A free delegate’s pass for shortlisted candidates**. The winner will be awarded a voucher entitling them to a one-day course or 50% off a two-day course*** offered by the Publishing Training Centre.
Details: Send a one-page pitch or equivalent with the email subject line “Pitching panel: [name of your project]” to email@example.com
Your pitch should include the issue/challenge you’re addressing, how your project deals with it, and the long term impact. There is no need to provide a breakdown of costs [unless you really like numbers].
* the winner will not actually receive £500K – sozzers
** contenders who are not invited to present will be allowed the Early Bird rate for up to one week after the shortlist is announced
***to be used by the end of 2018
