IN-PERSON AND DIGITAL EVENTS
Our eight branches run a variety of digital and in-person events. When you become a full SYP member, you receive free or discounted entry to all these events. We also have member-exclusive events. Digital members don’t have this same access but we try to keep entry costs as affordable as possible.
These events include:

Our events can be targeted at those looking to get into this industry, focusing on topics such as how to build a CV or introducing different areas of publishing. Events such as the SYP UK Member Masterclasses are targeted towards those looking to get ahead within the industry.
Guest speakers are drawn from wide backgrounds and we offer both in-person and digital events so publishing hopefuls and professionals throughout the UK have access to an array of our informative events. Digital events are captioned and recorded, and we are currently working to improve our practices so our in-person events are as accessible as possible.

INPRINT
The SYP’s small format magazine (approx 5 issues a year), mailed free to UK and Ireland SYP members, keeps you up to date with SYP activities and what’s going on in the rest of publishing. InPrint provides a selection of articles, guest interviews and reports, and acts as a platform for the interchange of opinion and ideas. New overseas members will be sent InPrint in pdf format via email. All members are welcome to contribute articles or get involved with the running of the magazine.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The SYP organises an annual conference involving lectures and workshops run by senior industry figures on various aspects and skills relevant to working in publishing. This normally takes place in November. There is a fee for this event, but SYP members are entitled to a discount.
CONTACTS
The SYP is one of the few regular meeting places for people in publishing, and one of its most important benefits is the network of informal contacts and friendships you will make throughout the industry. We regularly organise social occasions, including Summer and New Year parties, and also co-host events with other organisations such as recruitment consultancies or publishing companies.
