How to Feed Your Fire: An In-Conversation Event with Mann and Felone

On Monday 23rd September, The Society of Young Publishers presents an In-Conversation event with, CEO of Bonnier Books UK, Perminder Mann and, Co-Founder of Knights Of, Aimée Felone. Join us as we discuss their individual journeys, how they became leading women in publishing and the obstacles they faced on their route to success. Mann and Felone will also provide some top-tips and advice on how to progress in publishing.

 

Perminder Mann is the CEO of Bonnier Books UK, a major UK publisher with sales of £80m. Bonnier Books UK is part of Bonnier Books, a family-owned company headquartered in Sweden and a top 15-world publisher. She was one of only seven BAME women to appear in a survey of the UK’s top 100 most powerful leaders, conducted by The Guardian and Operation Black Vote. She also appears annually in the UK’s top 100 most influential people in book publishing, a list compiled by the industry’s trade magazine, The Bookseller, and in 2015 was named as one of the top 10 most influential people in publishing and writing, at the prestigious Hospital Club h100 awards.

Aimée Felone is co-founder of Knights Of – a commercial children’s publisher whose main focus is publishing inclusively by commissioning writers and illustrators from a diverse range of backgrounds, as well as hiring diversely. She was awarded the Kim Scott Walwyn Prize in 2019 for her “astonishing contribution” to the industry in just five years in publishing.

 

All profits from this event will go to support Young Women’s Trust.

Young Women’s Trust supports young women aged 18-30 in England and Wales, especially those struggling to live on low or no pay, to get into work that is right for them.

This event will be held at the WITH THE FIRE ON HIGH pop-up shop, 1st floor, 11-13 Market Row, Coldharbour Lane, SW9 8LB, from 6:30pm – 8pm

The pop-up has been created to celebrate the release of Carnegie Medal winner and New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Acevedo’s latest book With the Fire on High. The pop-up’s initiative is to discuss key themes throughout the book including the issues women face in industry, encouraging all women to pursue your passions and #FEEDYOURFIRE.
