Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and creative individual to join our team as a Publicity Executive on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a Publicity Assistant or someone with experience in a publicity department eager to progress their career in a fast-growing company with many high profile and award-winning authors, illustrators and brands. Nosy Crow is a multi-award winning, independent children’s publishing company with operations in both the UK and the USA. We make child-focused, parent-friendly children’s books for ages 0-12.
The Publicity Executive will work independently on their own campaigns alongside assisting the PR team in promoting Nosy Crow’s incredible list of authors and illustrators, titles and award-winning brands, ensuring excellent author care.
The Publicity Executive is managed by the Publicity Manager, and works closely with the Senior Publicity Executive and Senior Publicity Manager within a wider, dedicated, bright and vibrant Sales and Marketing Department.
We are a close team and we value the experience and creative input that we can each provide to help shape our books and campaigns to be the best they can be.
Key responsibilities:
• To independently devise and deliver your own imaginative, tailored, wide-reaching and well-executed publicity campaigns
• To act as a dedicated point of contact for your assigned authors and illustrators, delivering stand-out author care
• Work with the Publicity team to organise and coordinate a Nosy Crow presence at festivals and librarian conferences as well as launches, book tours, school visits and bookshop signings. This entails occasional evening/weekend work
• Developing and maintaining lasting relationships with contacts in all aspects of the media, and within the librarian, bookseller and influencer community
• Providing general administration support where required, including drafting PR materials like press releases and pitch presentations, sending out regular mailings, and managing award submissions
We’d love it if you had…
• A keen interest in children’s books and lots of enthusiasm! Previous experience working in children’s books is beneficial but not essential
• Previous experience working in publicity, plus a range of press contacts and/or experience organising festivals, events, conferences and book tours is beneficial, but not essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail and creative flair
• Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with authors, illustrators and key contacts as well as an eagerness to collaborate with the wider Nosy Crow team
• Strong organisation and time management skills, and the ability to constantly prioritise in a busy and sometimes pressurised environment
• Basic design skills using InDesign and Photoshop desirable but not essential
