Job description
We're looking for a Journals Production Editor to join the team at our Edinburgh office on a part-time, 12-month contract.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for managing the production of your allocated journals from receipt of typescripts to delivery and release of final files. You will ensure that the passage of typescripts and ancillary materials through the production process is to budget, to schedule and to EUP’s high quality standards, while always providing excellent customer care.
Key Accountabilities
• Editorial production of your allocated journals
• Service excellence and continuous improvement
Key Activities
• Receive typescripts from Journal Editors and prepare them for typesetting
• Commission and schedule the work of freelancers (primarily copyeditors and cover designers)
• Arrange typesetting and proofing of typescripts with typesetters
• Liaise closely with Journal Editors and authors throughout, providing updates and advice when required
• Resolve arising issues and queries effectively and efficiently
• Deliver final print files and purchase orders to printers on schedule
• Ensure costs are tightly controlled
• Ensure that all workflow and data systems are kept up to date and data is managed with accuracy
