Job description

We are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join the Special Interest Team at Bloomsbury. In this division we create original and high quality content to support hobbies, enthusiasms and interests in a number of subject areas including sports, health and wellness, sailing, camping and walking, military history, wildlife and creative writing. We also publish serious and rigorous non-fiction, aimed at a wider educated readership in the fields of politics, philosophy, history, religion and popular science.

This role will specifically support Sport and Green Tree (3 days p/w) and Nautical and Conway (2 days p/w).

- Assist the editorial team with editorial and administrative tasks
- Managing reprints for each list, liaising with production, checking proofs
- Managing catalogue copy to make sure everything is present/correct
- Checking ebook files
- Checking Biblio and updating copy
- Sending out proofs and advance copies to authors, contributors and others
- Checking proof corrections
- Responsible for checking media cuttings, and uploading quotes to Biblio
- Submitting titles for book prizes
- Checking title and metadata reports, and updating Biblio with missing information
- Checking Amazon to ensure all information is up to date, including Look Inside/key words
- Compiling and updating a freelancer database
- Filling in HMRC forms/Statements of Work
- Managing UK Hydrographic Office licensing process
- Managing nautical departmental email address
- Helping out at industry events

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Mondays and Tuesdays.

We are looking for someone with exceptional organisation skills, who has a good eye for detail and who is used to juggling a variety of tasks. A passion for books is a must and previous experience of working in an office environment would be an advantage.
