Job description

We are looking for a passionate and committed Digital Marketing Executive to develop and create best-in-class social media content and community management for the Booker Prizes’ social media channels, focusing on current prize cycles, as well as supporting wider campaign and day-to-day marketing activities. This is a new role and presents an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s best known cultural brands as it undergoes a period of rapid transformation and growth.

Key responsibilities:
• social media management: work autonomously and with the editorial team to ideate and develop content ideas to support growth of and engagement with the Booker Prizes’ core social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), and manage their execution
• content creation: produce compelling social-first content, including graphics, photography and video; this could involve utilising existing assets or creating tailored social content from scratch
• copywriting: suggest and/or write highly-engaging copy for social posts
• community management: monitor and respond to comments and mentions across our channels to bolster a warm and positive • community feeling within our social media spaces
• influencer marketing: work with the head of digital marketing to support on influencer collaborations as needed
analytics and reporting: regularly track and analyse data to measure the success of our work and identify areas to optimise future performance
• trend monitoring: stay up to date with social platform trends, competitor channels and successful campaigns in the wider world to influence future content plans and contribute to improved performance
• collaboration: attend regular team meetings to discuss new and upcoming content and other activities across the Booker Prizes portfolio, including PR, events and ceremonies, with a view to influencing future social media content ideas


We’d love it if you had…

• A minimum of two years’ experience working as a digital marketing executive
• A proven track record of working on high-profile social media content and campaigns, and influencer collaborations
• Digital and cultural literacy, with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the social landscape, and what works on each platform
• In-depth experience of Adobe Creative Suite, social media management platforms such as Later, and of the social platforms themselves
• Extensive experience planning, co-ordinating, executing and evaluating social media activity
• Excellent time management skills, an ability to work with multiple campaigns at once and meet strict deadlines
• Insight-driven, with an ability to create social content of the highest-quality based on audience and platform insights
• A strong eye for design and excellent copywriting skills suited for social media
• Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal skills; a strong team player and champion for our books and brand
• Ability to work to an exceptionally high standard with meticulous attention to detail, befitting a high-profile and respected global cultural brand, and ensuring all activity is on brand and consistent

It is not essential for applicants to have a publishing background, but they will take a keen interest in fiction and its place in the wider cultural scene. Experience of working within the cultural sector, and working across websites, social media, marketing and in-person events is highly desirable.

They will enjoy working as part of a small, friendly, collaborative and dynamic team and will be industrious, creative and detail-focused in their thinking and working. They will be organised and flexible in their approach to tackling a diverse range of tasks, including working on multiple projects simultaneously.
