Can I apply for the First Chapter Awards?
Absolutely! The First Chapter Awards are your golden ticket if you’re an early-stage professional, volunteer or hopeful in the book and publishing world across the UK and Ireland. Whether you’re just starting out or dreaming of breaking into the industry, this award is for you! We’re here to celebrate all the amazing people and roles in the book and publishing community, so if you’re within your first five years in the industry, please apply!
Even if you haven’t landed your first role yet, we welcome your application! We know how much energy and effort volunteers and community supporters bring to the table.
Just a heads up: if you have over five years of experience, this award isn’t quite right for you. We’re focusing on those early in their journey to help them grow and shine.

This is a fantastic chance for managers and colleagues to give a shoutout to their amazing teammates. If you know someone who’s been rocking their role, nominate them! We’re all about peer support too, so if you think a fellow volunteer or colleague deserves recognition, go ahead and nominate them.

Sure you can! We understand that you might want to support several people in your team. Several applicants from one company won’t impact the judging process.
Unfortunately, this award is open only to those in the UK and Ireland. That isn’t to say that you aren’t deserving of an award, we just don’t have the capacity as UK based volunteer-run organisations to cover any broader an area.
