We’re so excited to officially announce that SYP London will be hosting the annual conference this year on Saturday 30th November at Kingston University! Our theme this year is Publishing Past, Present and Future, in line with the celebration of SYP’s 75th diamond anniversary. Through a series of discussions with fellow industry professionals, we hope to explore the trajectory of publishing over the years. We will shocase the positive changes that have been made in the industry, engaging in timely discussions about current industry trends and topics, whilst also looking towards a hopeful future for publishing. There will be an action-packed day planned of panels, q&as workshops and industry stands for both publishing hopefuls and junior level people to gain insight into the industry or to expand their knowledge further. All tickets are inclusive of a buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day and there will be lots of free bookish goodies on offer!

Our keynote speaker this year is Vidisha Biswas, Founder and Managing Director of Footnote Press. Biswas was a co-owner and business development director at publishing collective Zed Books, where she managed the company’s digital transformation strategy before it was acquired by Bloomsbury in 2020. She has also worked at the Morning Star, New Statesman and Verso Books. Biswas launched Footnote Press in partnership with Bonnier Books UK a pioneering arrangement that combines the editorial independence and agility of an indie press with the sales and distribution capabilities of a world-leading publisher. Footnote Press are a mission-oriented publisher committed to driving social and narrative change. They seek to centre marginalised stories and perspectives – other ways of thinking being and organising that forefront diversity of experience while highlighting our shared humanity.
