SYP Scotland are back in 2018 with their new conference: Publishing vs the World! Join us on Friday 9th March 2018 at Surgeon’s Hall in Edinburgh.
In 2016 we looked at the Scottish book scene, in 2017 we considered the good, bad and ugly of industry, and for 2018 we’re taking on publishing’s place in the world, how it challenges traditional models and issues, how it collaborates and innovates, and how people are working in these particularly turbulent times. The SYP Scotland conference is a perfect event for those working in any area of the book and publishing world, or looking to get involved – come along to meet new people and learn about exciting and interesting happenings of the industry.
Previous conferences have included coding workshops, pitching sessions, CV troubleshooting, and speakers from books, magazines, comics, retail, book festivals, and more. Sessions and speakers for 2018 will be announced in the New Year.
Ticket tiers: SYP Member (£30), Non-member (£35), ticket + annual SYP membership (£45).
At SYP Scotland we want to unite publishing newbies all across Scotland. If you’re interested in becoming a member, full information is here.
The Society of Young Publishers is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organisation looking to support, educate, enthuse and entertain prospective publishers, and those within the first ten years of their career in the publishing or book industry. We do this through monthly events, online events, mentoring schemes and more.
Praise for previous conferences:
“Such great passion and eagerness – utterly inspiring.”
“Genuinely excited and optimistic about the future of publishing!”
“Hugely informative and exciting.”
“Can honestly say this is the first publishing conference I’ve been to that has inspired rather than depressed! I’ve lots of new ideas!”
Join us on Friday 9th March 2018 at Surgeons’ Hall, Edinburgh for a day that cracks open and explores the nooks and crannies of the publishing industry.
