Side Hustle – Use your current skills!
Getting into the world of publishing or keeping motivated after you’ve started working in publishing
can be hard, so ask yourself: what can you do with your current skills? What transferable skills do
you have? The best use for your current skills might be a side-hustle – but where do you start?
In this session, find out how you can use your existing skills, what you can leverage them for your
side-hustle, learn some practical ways of getting started on a side-hustle, and much more. So,
whether you’re still looking for a job in publishing or already have one but want to do more – a side-
hustle will always look great on your CV, especially if its sustainable, fun and earns you some bling! If
you’re interested in making the most of your transferable skills, this workshop is perfect for you.
Our third SYP Publishing Skills Workshop of the year will focus on this exciting and self-starter skill,
hosted by Ellie Pilcher, Marketing Manager at Avon Books, HarperCollins. Ellie is an experienced and
enthusiastic side-hustler, having recently started her job at Avon Books. She is also a freelance
journalist, publicist, seasoned book blogger, podcaster and public speaker. She posts regularly on
her blog on variety of topics relevant to the Publishing industry, selfcare and lifestyle. She is the
perfectly positioned side-hustler in the industry to answer all your questions about using your
current skills to start a holistic side hustle. Check out her blog: ellesbellesnotebook.co.uk
