SYP North presents:

SYP-Manchester: Literature in Translation

The Society of Young Publishers invites anyone interested in the art of writing and publishing to a special event in which quality writing and its translation will be brought to the forefront. Reading literature from other countries is vital to maintain a vibrant book culture and to increase the exchange of ideas among cultures. So with this in mind… By bringing readers information about goings-on in the world of international literature, and by providing a forum for debate about the role of translation in contemporary culture, the SYP hopes to serve as a resource for readers, students, translators, writers and editors interested in international literature.

For this first SYP North event in Manchester, there will be discussion and networking opportunities alongside free food and drink.

The evening will feature talks and discussion from leading publishers and academics of literature in translation and translation studies –

Established in 1949, the Society of Young Publishers is open to anyone in publishing or a related trade – or who is hoping to be soon.

The SYP was originally for under-35s, but it’s now open to anyone and caters especially for those with fewer than ten years’ publishing experience. Run by a team of dedicated volunteers, our aim is to help assist, inform and enthuse anyone trying to break into the industry or progress within it.
