Our expert panellists will be representing some of the most diverse independent publishers around today. We will discuss what goes on behind the scenes, how their business models differ from larger publishers and, of course, what it’s like to work at an indie.
PANELLISTS:
Rhea Kurien (@rhea_kurien) is Commissioning Editor at Aria, the digital-first, commercial fiction imprint from Head of Zeus. Rhea previously worked at HQ and Headline.
Charlotte Hutchinson (@charhutchinson) is Publicity Manager at crowdfunding publisher Unbound. She has worked in publishing for six years in various marketing and publicity roles, working with the likes of Kit de Waal, Nikesh Shukla, Raymond Briggs and Yanis Varoufakis. She is originally from a small town in Yorkshire and is passionate about working-class representation in the arts, and getting publishing beyond the M25.
Tamara Sampey-Jawad is the Associate Publisher of Fitzcarraldo Editions, an independent London-based publishing house specialising in contemporary fiction and essays, both in translation and in the English language. She began her career at Halban Publishers, an independent press focusing on books on the Middle East and of Jewish interest.
