Have you ever wondered what it’s like to run an independent book shop? Or fantasised about starting your own, even? Well, SYP Scotland is getting all the questions answered in our exclusive one-on-one interview with Rebecca Wall from Night Owl Books, a new bookshop based in East Linton in Scotland.
Rebecca Wall (she/her) founded Night Owl Books in April 2022. A lifelong bookworm, she was fortunate to gain experience of the book trade as a teenager through a Saturday job at White Rose Books, Thirsk, before studying French and Italian at the University of Cambridge. After completing an MA in Art History at the Courtauld Institute, she managed Thomas Heneage Art Books, St. James’s, for several years, before becoming manager of a contemporary art gallery in Chelsea in 2014. In March 2020 she moved from London to Scotland to be closer to family, and during the repeated lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 enjoyed discovering the rich natural world of East Lothian while working as a freelance writer. Now, her love of nature is reflected on the shelves of Night Owl Books, which has a particular focus on nature writing, wildlife, botany, and gardening.
This event will be hosted on Zoom on 16th June 2022 at 7pm, with Otter AI captions, physical descriptions. Tickets are £1 for SYP Members, and £3 for non-members. If you are struggling to pay, then there are a limited number of free tickets available – just give us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
