Our panel will be discussing anything and everything including how they got started, whether you can transition into design from other departments and how to progress in your design career.

Panellists:
Alex Kirby has been designing book covers for over 15 years, including three years at PRH, then twelve as Senior Designer at Faber & Faber. In July 2018 he joined Yale University Press and launched his own freelance venture. Alex works across all genres including Fiction, Non Fiction and Crime, creating jackets for both Literary and Mass Market.
Ebyan Egal is Studio Manager at Headline Publishing, a commercial adult division of Hachette UK. As part of her role at Headline, she manages the design process, scheduling, budget management and freelances set projects to designers. She previously worked in production for publishers including Little, Brown UK and Bloomsbury Publishing. She’s also the co-chair of THRIVE, Hachette’s BAME employee network which aims to support and amplify the works of BAME employees, authors and other creatives including designers.
Pete Adlington has been Senior Designer at Faber & Faber since 2018. He previously worked at Canongate Books in Edinburgh and London.
Madeleine Stuart is a design assistant at Caterpillar Books. She worked previously as designer for a FinTech startup, as well as a freelance illustrator, after graduating from Arts University Bournemouth in 2018 with a BA in Illustration.
