Are the Books We’re Reading Diverse Enough?

May 26, 2016 @ 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Diversity in publishing – it’s been a hot topic. With Penguin Random House scrapping their entry requirements and Kamila Shamsie’s Year of Publishing Women initiative, publishing houses are casting a wider net for budding publishers and authors.

But how does this effect the books we’re reading?

The SYP committee will be holding a discussion in downstairs at The Duke and Duchess about diversity when it comes to publishing books from the editor and author’s perspective, with a board of established publishing professionals.

Joining us will be…

Sian Cain, Books Editor at The Guardian
Caitlin Doyle, Senior Publishing Manager and Commissioning Editor at Harper Collins
Jenny Parrott, Editorial Director at Oneworld
Sunny Singh, Author, latest novel Hotel Arcadia is published by Quartet Books

Venue: downstairs at The Duke and Duchess

Tickets: £3 Members / £5 Non-members
