Job description
The Editorial Assistant at Welbeck Illustrated supports the commissioning team day-to-day with both administrative and editorial tasks. The role covers close involvement in all administrative and editorial activities leading to the successful publication across all illustrated non-fiction titles, including but not limited to managing editorial processes, providing administrative support to the team, publishing programme maintenance, metadata and keyword entry, managing reprint processes, liaising with authors and freelancers on frontlist projects, liaising with internal and external colleagues, taking in corrections on InDesign files and checking plotters, organising and minuting meetings, contributing to ideas meetings, managing TIs, processing purchase orders and invoices, researching sales statistics and market trends, and drafting freelance contracts.
This role can be based at our London or Sheffield office, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and editorial support to senior colleagues working across a range of illustrated non-fiction books, from cookery and sport to fashion and photography. The ideal role for someone with fantastic organisational and communication skills, either with previous publishing experience or looking to break into the industry, we would love to hear from candidates who can demonstrate their attention to detail, creative thinking and love of the written word.
