
Networking in Publishing: A Survival Guide (A glimpse into the Resource Centre)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that there’s only so much publishing insight your secondary school Careers Advisor can give you – and even that might not be enough to equip you with the industry knowledge you will need to land your first role.
In an effort to demystify the process, here are some tips and tricks I’ve used over the last few years, many of which have proved invaluable when I came to land my entry-level role. My intention is not to endorse the sentiment that it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Sure, insider advice on CVs and interviews and, who knows, maybe even a job referral never hurt anyone. But there are so many wholesome benefits to networking and sharing our diverse range of
experiences.
