SYP UK at London Book Fair: Trailblazer Awards and SYP Panel

The London Book Fair’s Trailblazers Awards followed by SYP Panel: How to Get into Publishing with the 2023 Trailblazers
The Trailblazer Awards are run by The London Book Fair, in partnership with the Publishers Association, supported by the Society of Young Publishers and BookBrunch. The awards celebrate young talent under the age of 30 in publishing.
Join SYP UK Co-Chair, Michaela O’Callaghan, as she chats to this year’s Trailblazers about their career, their successes and what they imagine the next year will bring. The panelists will be able to share their knowledge and expertise about the publishing industry for those hoping to work in publishing.
The event will be held at the London Book Fair in the Focus Theatre, anyone with an LBF pass is more than welcome to attend!
Some Trailblazers in attendance:

Christina Storey (she/her), Social Media and E-commerce Executive at HarperCollins UK.
Christina Storey is the social media and Ecommerce executive for HarperCollins. She is the founder of the Publishing Hopefuls Facebook Group. In her role at HarperCollins she manages the brand Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. The Publishing Hopefuls Facebook Groups has now grown to have 4.7K members and is a lovely supportive community for all publishing hopefuls.

Hannah Schofield (she/her), Literary agent
Hannah Schofield is a literary agent at LBA, representing a wide-ranging list that can be summed up as ‘things she likes’ – which includes mostly commercial and book-club fiction, with select non-fiction and YA. She won the RNA Agent of the Year in 2022, less than three years after brokering her first book deal. Hannah also believes she is the only Luxembourgish literary agent – but probably wouldn’t swear to it! She is thrilled to have been selected as one of the winners of the Trailblazer Award 2023.”

Émilie Hames (she/her), Sustainability Production Controller
Émilie is the Sustainability Production Controller at Penguin Random House UK where she supports the implementation of sustainable initiatives and ethical compliance across the supply chain. She is also Co-Chair of the Green Team, a colleague-led network that champions environmentalism at work and provides colleagues with a voice to propose sustainable policies. Last year she founded @sustainablepublishing on Instagram as an educational platform to inform avid readers and those working in the industry about the key sustainability challenges facing book publishing.

Lucy Bond (she/her), Head of Books and Distribution.                                                                                                    Having studied BA English and Drama at Queen Mary UOL and mime at École Jacques Lecoq, Lucy joined Fane as a production coordinator in 2019. Lucy is now Head of Books and works across all areas of the business, leading on the company’s bookselling strategy for live and online events. She supported the acquisition of the book subscription service LoveMyRead in 2022, which she now oversees. Lucy produced Angelina Jolie and Amnesty International’s virtual book launch for Know Your Rights and Claim Them and recently led the virtual global launch event for Salman Rushdie’s Victory City with Margaret Atwood and Neil Gaiman, which saw 2000 people tune in from over 50 countries.

Chelsea Graham (she/her), Founder and Editor in Chief of The Publishing Post                                                               Chelsea Graham is the Founder and Editor in Chief of The Publishing Post. The magazine offers publishing hopefuls both information for free, and the opportunity to gain experience within the publishing environment. Day to day she also works as an Editor across the Fiction Audio list at Bonnier Books.
