This panel event showcases Birmingham and the West Midlands as a literary hub. The zoom event will focus on community and creativity within the region.
Join us on 6th December for an evening with Writing West Midlands, The Emma Press, and the Bear Bookshop. This will be a panel event with opportunities for a Q and A.

The Panelists
Jenny McCann (She/Her)- Owner of Bear Bookshop
I am a bookshop owner and mum of 3. I was an English teacher for 15 years prior to opening my bookshop. I have lived in the West Midlands for most of my life and in Birmingham for the past 15 years. You can visit Bear Bookshop’s website here.
Olivia Chapman (She/Her) – PR and Communications Manager at Writing West Midlands
Olivia (Liv) previously worked at New Writing North, Blake Friedmann Literary Agency and Puffin Children’s Books. She is from London, where she did a BSc in International Relations at LSE before moving to North East England to do post-graduate studies in marketing and PR. Olivia is currently a Governor at an Infant school in Solihull, and was part of the 2015 AMEX Leadership Academy.
Writing West Midlands evolved from the work of the Birmingham Book Festival, established in 1999.The organisation is now the literature development agency for the region. Writing West Midlands now provides a wide range of services for writers and readers, including our Spark Young Writers programme, our Room 204 Writer Development scheme, the Birmingham Literature Festival and the West Midlands Readers’ Network. Georgia Wall, (she/her) – Publishing Manager at The Emma Press
Georgia helps bring Emma Press’ books into the world by running calls for submissions and managing in-house product publicity campaigns, as well as assisting with the practical running of the office in the Jewellery Quarter. She is especially enthusiastic about children’s literature from around the world. Georgia also works as a freelance translator and delivers creative translation workshops in schools with the support of The Stephen Spender Trust. She/her. Visit The Emma Press website here.
