Are you ready for The Comeback?

The Society of Young Publishers North and Midlands Committee is delighted to announce the return of their regular

publishing-themed events for publishing professionals and those wanting to break into the industry. All are welcome – we encourage you to join and participate!

After a long break during which we refreshed the committee with some new members, we will be holding our Comeback event at the Adelphi in Leeds on 28th October 2015. Time: 7.30pm – onwards.

We are very lucky to have joining us two esteemed publishing professionals from Hull (the City of Culture for 2017!)

Martin Goodman is the founder of independent publishing house Barbican Press. Barbican Press launched with the Doctored Books series – books that found steam in the PhD Creative Writing programmes of universities. Books that rose to so many challenges they forgot to compromise. Books with minds of their own for readers with minds of their own.

He will be discussing all aspects of his work as a publisher based in the North.

Brian Lavery

After 25 years of various senior roles in national and regional journalism, Brian returned to higher education and gained a first in English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Hull. The Headscarf Revolutionaries derives from his funded PhD research at that university, where he also taught creative nonfiction.

Brian will sharing his insights into writing and getting published with an independent press.
