A Message from the Society of Young Publishers

Posted on July 29, 2013 in Uncategorized

It is with great sadness that we must tell you of the passing of Matthew Gilbert who died on Thursday 25 July. We had the pleasure of working with Matthew during the creation of The Gilbert Collection which will remain a tribute to a wonderful young man and his poetry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. We would like to thank everyone for their support with this project. To date we have raised over £3000 for the Everyman Appeal – a branch of the Institute of Cancer Research that specialises in researching male cancers.

Matthew managed to tick off many other items of his bucket list including: eating lobster, visiting the Natural History Museum in London, touring Stonehenge, hosting a ninja party and meeting the Kaiser Chiefs at a gig. We are so pleased that he also got to see his poetry published.

We will remember Matthew as a very bright, creative and positive young man who has touched many lives through his courageous attitude and thought-provoking prose.
