How old was Shakespeare’s Juliet when she died? In what county is Stilton cheese manufactured? What was the first frozen vegetable to be marketed in the UK? If BookBrunch had answered, respectively, 13, Leicestershire and asparagus, rather than 14, Cambridgeshire and peas, we might have won the SYP/BTBS quiz last week. As it was, we came an honourable second, tying with, among others, the Bookseller.

Congratulations to the winners, Inspired Selection – who weren’t from the recruitment agency, but from Penguin. They were Ellie Smith, Andy Taylor, Richard Baker, Anna Kelley, Emma Brown, and Rebecca Lee.

The quiz, ably hosted by the PA’s Simon Juden (one cannot imagine his predecessors entertaining the crowd so ebulliently), raised £1,500 for the book trade charity.
