The Society of Young Publishers is hard at work developing, an ambitious new website project which aims to celebrate and record 60 years of the group’s existence, to be published in book form this autumn. The website will contain all the articles written by and about the SYP since 1949, and feature over a dozen new chapters to be written collaboratively with the help of visitors to the website. The SYP also hopes to get in touch with all current and past members, and invite them to participate in making this venture a big hit for the industry.

Indian-based Outsource Publishing (OP), a consultancy group providing low-cost publishing services to small and medium publishers, has agreed to be the technology partner for the website. They will convert hundreds of publications of SYP's member magazine InPrint – first launched by the voluntary SYP committee in 1975 – into a digital format that can be readily accessed by visitors. With the SYP they are developing a website for the whole publishing community, where members can interact, debate and contribute content to the final book product.

At the recent London Book Fair in April, OP's Chief Consultants Mr Mukul Goyal and Mr Amit Kukreja were there at the signing occasion, while the SYP was represented by SYP-60 Project Manager Jon Slack and Archive Co-ordinator Bhav Mehta. OP also thanks its own International Marketing Representative Mr Sandeep Sachdeva who was instrumental in the early stage negotiations with the SYP.

The official launch date for the BETA version of the website is set for Friday 29 May, with a sneak preview offered at the SYP’s Now and Then event, held at the Groucho Club on Wednesday 20 May. The SYP-60 book, the content of which will include key InPrint articles and collaborative chapters from the SYP-60 website, is scheduled for release in early October.
