John Murray gets steamy

In February, I had the pleasure of completing 2 weeks work experience at the offices of John Murray. As I run a literary website, they were interested in getting my feedback on web marketing. I suggested that they start making promotional videos, since it’s very cheap to make an effective video nowadays, and besides, many publishers are now venturing onto Youtube. I was pleasantly surprised that they took the idea and ran with it, as a previous publisher that I had consulted had not been too keen on the idea. So I helped in the filming of a series of videos to promote Tahmima Anam’s A Golden Age. You can watch these videos on the following hyperlink:

A couple of months later, Polly Ho-Yen from John Murray publicity contacted me to see if I have any ideas for a blog to promote Catherine Townsend’s Sleeping Around: Secrets of a Sexual Adventuress. I didn’t really have any great ideas for a blog, as I thought that Catherine was already quite au fait with that kind of thing, as the column that she writes for The Independent is readily available online. However, I did suggest that they put up a video on Youtube, where Catherine could regale us with the details of some of her adventures, preferably in a domestic setting. It would certainly be far more exciting than the ramblings of Youtube’s resident lonelygirl15. I wasn’t sure that John Murray would run with such a daring idea, so I was highly delighted this week when Polly told me that they had made a video and that it was online at Youtube. John Murray have gone beyond my original idea to produce a film that is very professional, very daring, and certainly very funny.
