The Society of Young Publishers is a voluntary organisation and is run by the five regional committees– London, Oxford, North, Scotland and Ireland –and one lead UK committee, of dedicated volunteers who give up their spare time to help others take their first steps into the industry and progress within it. Find out more about what we do.

The oldest branch of the SYP, we continue to deliver social events for those currently in or looking to get into the London publishing scene. In addition to our panels, socials and book club, in 2017 we launched our member-only workshop programme.

At SYP Scotland we want to unite publishing newbies all across Scotland through our relationships with organisations such as Publishing Scotland, publishers, literary agents and booksellers.

Predominantly dividing our events between Leeds and Manchester, the SYP North committee is made up of a wonderful mix of book publishers, magazine publishers and booksellers with a wealth of experience between them.

Launched in 2016, SYP Ireland quickly established relationships with regional universities and groups such as the Irish Writer’s Centre to connect and support young and aspiring publishers. Our small but dynamic committee operates from Dublin and host a variety of events – from publishing panels and socials, to career and partnered events.

The Oxford branch of the SYP is run by a group of enthusiastic and friendly volunteers who put on regular speaker events, socials, book clubs and much more for people interested in publishing based in Oxford and the surrounding area.

On The Road

Partnering with The Bookseller, The Society of Young Publishers are putting on pop-up events around the UK to shine a spotlight on publishing talent, highlight roles and routes into the industry less talked about, and disrupt the idea that you must move to the capital to work in publishing.
