The MA in Publishing Studies course at Kingston University have been putting on a series of masterclasses, of which the latest is:
Getting the unsuspecting public to read more. What can World Book Day do for you?
One of the ongoing challenges faced by publishers and booksellers is how to widen the market. All involved in the book trade need to find more readers - rather than just selling more titles to the same band of loyal purchasers.
· But how do you persuade children to read when they say they prefer playing on the computer or chatting on msn?
· What’s the point of reading a book when you can wait for the film?
· Which professions read the most, and what can we learn from this?
Kathy Gale and Cathy Schofield of World Book Day will be visiting Kingston University on Monday 30th April to discuss these key issues and all are welcome to attend.
6.00 - 8.00pm in Main Building, Penryn Road Room 208. Please let Kingston know that you are coming, as numbers are limited: A.Baverstock@kingston.ac.uk. Click here to find out how to get to Kingston University.
