Skillset’s publishing sector manager Suzanne Kavanagh will feature in a question-and-answer session on careers in business-to-business publishing on the Guardian Careers website today (Thursday, 3 June).
Suzanne Kavanagh, on new publishing recruits: “Many graduates leave university dreaming of a career on a national newspaper or glossy consumer magazine. Yet careers can be found in the B2B sector that give young journalists the chance to develop a level of expertise in their chosen field that is rarely afforded to those working in the mainstream press.”
Suzanne will be joining a panel of experts from the B2B publishing industry, made up of journalism.co.uk editor, Laura Oliver; Mark Say, senior editor of public sector intelligence publisher Kable; Emilie Reymond, online editor of healthcarerepublic.com and Alex Masters, business intelligence editor for Foodnews magazine.
The panel will be answering questions on the skills needed to work in the B2B sector, what makes a good B2B journalist and how to forge a successful career in this area.
Skillset’s chief executive, Dinah Caine, said: “Business-to-business is an extremely important sector of the publishing industry. With so many young people looking to take on a career as a professional journalist, this sector presents a valuable, but often overlooked, opportunity.”
The Q&A session will take place on the Guardian Careers website today from 1-4pm: http://bit.ly/aJrdct.
