A year on from the launch of the Sony Reader, the SYP's September Speaker meeting looks at the brave new world of audiobooks, and asks whether books as we know them are any longer essential.
"Kindling the Digital Debate: The New Age of Audio and Books" features Simon Bell, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Licensing at the British Library; Neil Jewsbury, Waterstone's Commercial Director; Clive Stanhope, Managing Director of independent audiobook publisher CSA Word; and Bella Todd, a journalist at Time Out magazine, where she writes the column "A Word in Your Ear".
The meeting takes place on Tuesday 29 September at the Swedenborg Hall, 20-21 Bloomsbury Way, London WC1A 2TH. Free to members, £5 for non-members. Registration is required, and there are further details on the SYP website.
