As part of ongoing plans to develop our web presence and provide an effective service to our members, the SYP is currently looking for an energetic, dedicated IT Developer to work with us over the coming year during our busy 2008 programme. As well as a high-level of proficiency with computers and web-based packages in general, we are looking for someone with the time and the willingness to learn and carry out the role resourcefully and efficiently.
You will ideally have some experience of building websites and working with code. Knowledge of the following packages is preferred but not essential, as training can be provided where necessary – HTML, CSS, php, MySQL and Dreamweaver. A working knowledge of relational databases would be an advantage.
This is a volunteer role with an immediate start, and an ideal opportunity to develop your IT portfolio. You'll be working alongside a broad range of people in the SYP Committee, all aiming to assist and inform anyone trying to break into the publishing industry or progress within it. It is, however, worth noting that working/aspiring to work in publishing is not a necessary requirement for the right kind of person.
If you are interested in this position or would like to know more please contact Jon Slack on firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
