Join the SfEP from 8–10 September 2012 at Vanbrugh College, University of York, for education, motivation and professional inspiration.
The SfEP are heading to historic York for the Society for Editors and Proofreaders’ 23rd annual conference this September, and once again they have a programme that’s packed with plenty to inspire and excite. And you’ll be delighted to learn that the conference fee will be lower than last year’s, bucking the general economic trends.
The AGM will be held on Saturday 8 September, with the conference proper on Sunday 9 and Monday 10 September. The conference programme is a unique mix of workshops, seminars and other sessions, on topics as diverse as XML for editors, InDesign, and the art of querying and workshops on grammar, editing mathematics, and the thorny topic of negotiating for success – to name but a few.
Just as important is the chance to meet fellow professionals – whether freelance, in-house or corporate – both in the workshops and sessions, and socially. Networking is also a feature of the pre-conference event: a guided walking tour of York’s city centre, taking in the ample historical and cultural highlights of this fascinating city.
The SfEP will be running their one-day Project management course at Vanbrugh College just before the conference, on Saturday 8 September. It’s designed for experienced editors who wish to find out how they could extend their services to include longer-term multi-tasked work and if you’re going to the conference, why not make the most of your visit to York by booking a place on this course as well?
How to book
As well has having reduced the price of the conference this year, the SfEP have introduced a new online booking system, so reserving your place couldn’t be easier. Check out their information for delegates for full detail and if for any reason you are unable to use the online booking system, please contact the SfEP by email or on 020 8785 5617.
What’s more, if you book and pay in full before 2 April, you’ll be entitled to an early-bird discount. And if you join the Society, you’ll pay even less to attend the conference, and be able to take full advantage of all of their membership benefits. Plus all Society of Young Publisher members get a discounted rate when joining the SfEP, so be sure to mention you are a SYP member!
