The British Council's UK Young Publishing Entrepreneur (UKYPE) award 2008 is accredited as a British Book Industry Award (Nibbie) and co-sponsored by London Book Fair, the award champions young (aged 25-35) entrepreneurs working in the different sectors within the UK publishing industry. It seeks to challenge their perspectives of the book trade by exposing them to foreign, developing publishing markets; and hopes to connect them with the wider network of international creative entrepreneurs that the British Council and its Creative Economy Unit has been building for the past years. The winner will be announced at the London Book Fair on Wednesday April 16th. Last year, SYP member Tom Chalmers of Legend Press was nominated, and the winner was Clare Christian of The Friday Project.
The 2008 winner and the two runners-up will travel to Argentina later this year to take part in a tailored tour of their publishing industry.
The deadline for nominations is next Monday 10 March, 2008. For information about how to nominate a candidate, please visit http://www.britishbookawards.com/bbia_nomination_form.asp. Click here to download the flyer (jpeg) - you may have to click on the cursor to zoom in and out.
