SUMMARY:Books in Translation: The Changing Landscape of International Ficti
 on
DESCRIPTION:According to Nielsen Books UK\, in 2023\, consumers spent £26m
on translated fiction print books\, up 12% on the previous year. This pan
el aims to unpack such growing popularity in translated fiction and explor
e its changing landscape in the publishing world by asking what thematic t
rends can we see emerging in works of translation\, why are these books so
special to readers and how can publishers continue to invest in internati
onal talent? This panel showcases the cultural diversity and intersectiona
lity at the heart of translation and the importance of championing new voi
ces in publishing.\n\nThis panel will take place at the Courtyard. \n\nTh
is event is part of the SYP London Conference 2024. If you wish to RSVP to
attend this panel\, please book below. This allows us to assess interest
in each panel and workshop within the conference. Please note that events
within the smaller rooms like the workshops have a capacity and on the day
we will prioritise those who have pre-booked spaces for these. We strongl
y advise that you pre-book onto the events within the conference\, particu
larly if they are workshops or speed dating.
