We have invited a representative from Stonewall to come and talk with us.
One of Stonewall’s key aims is to eradicate homophobia and sexual orientation-based discrimination in Britain’s schools so that every child and young person can learn in a safe, supportive and respectful environment.
In 2005 Stonewall launched Education for All, a national campaign to tackle homophobic bullying in all of Britain’s schools. Education for All works with over 70 organisations including government departments, local authorities, unions, voluntary and community organisations.
Stonewall campaign for literature in schools to not be dismissive of homosexuality and LGB culture. Children come from a variety of different backgrounds and may have gay siblings, aunties, uncles, godparents, parents or carers.
Acknowledging and celebrating different families is crucial to make all children feel welcome and enable them to learn how to value and respect those who are different or come from different backgrounds and families.
