SYP meets SOA Literary Open Mic Night - Call for submissions
Calling all aspiring authors!
Do you dream of moseying down to an East End pub on a Thursday evening to flaunt your literary prowess alongside two other fabulous authors to a room full of publishing and writing moguls of the future? Well now you can.
As an early Christmas present for all you lovely writers out there the Society of Authors and the Society of Young Publishers have put their heads together to organise a very exciting, very exclusive, one of a kind open mic night in the East End.
Why's it so special? Well, unlike a normal open mic night this one will be advertised exclusively to other writers and publishers, providing you with an attentive audience of trade professionals to showcase your literary genius to!
What do you have to do? There are two slots up for grabs and for your chance to claim one of them you need to submit the work you wish to unveil for public consumption to firstname.lastname@example.org by 28 November 2011 [you must also be available to attend the event on 8 December]. Winners will be notified by 2 December 2011. We don't mind whether you're published or unpublished, what's more important is that you can own the stage! Your work needs to be 800 - 1,500 words in length (reading time of 5-10 minutes) and should be submitted with a brief overview of your influences, experiences whilst writing the work and any other relevant
A prize will be given for the most exciting showcase.
